December YOTA Month 2018

The entire month of December several youngsters will become active with

YOTA

as suffix in the callsign.

The idea for this is to show the amateur radio hobby to youth and to encourage youngsters to be active on the ham radio waves.

Give a demonstration in a school or local club, gather together with your friends, grab a pizza and make some QSOs or enjoy a great pile-up.

Let us all show this great hobby to the world!

Feel free to make a QSO with the youngsters, they are happy to get some attention and exchange information.

Licensed and unlicensed youth will be making QSOs, be aware this could be their first radio contact ever and give them a chance to experience a possible new hobby.

LOG4OM Update 1.34.0

Changelog:

Award Management. Added new AwardOverride.csv file to override DXCC automatically calculated by Log4OM (or when Log4Om is not able to determine DXCC from prefix in WFF)

LoTW upload page automatically open on program closing if new QSO are available and not uploaded yet (Settings options in LOTW config page)

Improved logging on some situations

Fixed an issue on historic (monthly) backup under some circumstances

Fixed an issue that miscalculate locator from Clublog coordinates and may produce unexpected issues when a callsign is not found on external source

Fixed (added some proximity logic) to callsign analyzing function that is guessing that KH7P “could” be a prefix bounded to Hawaii instead of a full callsign.
This will prevent correct identification of callsign like KH1/KH7P as Log4om is guessing as a first instance that KH7P may be a country SUFFIX instead of a callsign, in order to maximize search chances. Incidentally KH7P is a valid prefix for Hawaii that will override check on KH1

Clublog error while deleting a QSO in some circumstances fixed.

New option in SETTINGS / SERVICES to make data quality enrichment in QSO added by external software using communicator (JTAlert, WSJT, GridTracker, etc.)

Implementation of new User Special Callsign definition database, accessible from [Settings -> UCL Database] menu

Satellite mode now shows red label with satellite code instead of “SATELLITE MODE” In main user interface, if a valid satellite is selected

Swisslog For Windows Update 5.98c

NEW: Image viewer: Support to display images encoded in CMYK.

NEW: Image viewer: the image viewer window will be closed automatically after saving the QSO.

NEW: Add QSO > MyQTH: Added the field “Operator Call”. This is very useful for multioperator or clubs to assign the operator. This field will be exported into ADIF as the OPERATOR field.

NEW: Added TTLOC statistic. This statistic counts all Grid Squares (Maidenhead) confirmed by QSL, LoTW and eQSL.

NEW: Logbook view: JTALERT Exportation query in the ADIF Export folder. This query is very useful if you want to synchronise QSO from Swisslog to JTALERT. Use this query in a logbook view to select automatically all QSOs with modes recognised by WSJT-X/JTDX. Use the export function to export QSOs from Swisslog to the log ADIF file used by JTALERT. Simply save the export file with the same name you use for the ADIF log file in JTALERT and copy it in the log directory of JTALERT, overwriting the existing one. That’s all!

NEW: Enabled LotW and eQSL confirmations in RDA statistic

Corrected: Bug since 5.98 affecting users located in time zones where local time is -1 to -12 from UTC. Swisslog didn’t calculate correctly the time difference to UTC set by Windows and displayed a message box prompting user that “The Timedifference to UTC for the current QTH does not match the settings in Windows”. Swisslog detected Windows settings as positive number when should be negative.

Corrected: Band maps: code fully rewritten for better performance and stability. Thanks to this change some issues have been solved such as no spots after certain running time, lock ups or low performance.

Corrected: Tools | For experts only | Set DXCC in Callbook. Swisslog seemed frozen while executing this function.

Updated: 30MDG, AGCW, ARLHS, BCA, BDM, CLUBLOG, CWOPS, DCE, DCI, DEE, DEFE, DERESP, DFCF, DIG, DMC, DME, DMVE, EA QRP, EPC, eQSL, FISTS, FOC, HSC, IOTA, LYNX, LOTW, MF, NDG,  SKCC, SOTA, TBDXC, TEN TEN, URE, WCA and WFF statistics on 12/10/2018

The QTH will be a hotel in N’Djamena.

There are unfortunately not many suitable and quiet locations (noise wise).

But the plan is to have the beam and dipoles high up about 25-30 meter.

There are space for low band verticals and receiving antennas.

I also plan to avoid the static season.

Modes: CW (+ maybe SSB).

No digi mode planned.
